Student Party SAM has decided to enlarge her board to six board members, from which four board members have a seat in the University Council of Tilburg University. These four board members – Yara Muller, Jeroen Aben, Anneloes van Delft and Romy van Limpt – are elected by the students of Tilburg University during the University Council Elections 2016 to represent them on behalf of Student Party SAM in the Council. Next to these four board members Bas Veldhuizen and Marnick Boelen will fortify the board and support the council tasks.
For more than 20 years Student Party SAM is the voice of the students within Tilburg University. We are an organization that serves the interests of students via our seats in the University Council. Next to our council tasks, we are also the link between the university and the student which means we have close contact with our grassroots supporters. In the course of the years our council- and board tasks have expanded in such way that our activities and workload increased tremendously. To guarantee the quality of our council and board work, we decided in 2015-2016 to reorganize.
Student Party SAM will get a broader design and form a student interests organization with six board members from September 1st 2016. Four out of six board members are elected as student representatives on behalf of SAM in the University Council during the University Council Elections 2016. This means four faction members and two other board members will have a seat in the board of the SAM Student Interests Organization. The board members are equal to each other within this organization. With regard to the council tasks and the work in the University Council, the faction members will be the spokespersons and make the necessary decisions. These four faction members are after all chosen by the students of Tilburg University. The other board members have a supportive role since they will not have a voice within the University Council and the preceding committee meetings. They will fortify the board in that matter. This is comparable with the division of labor within a political party, where the chosen faction members are the spokesperson in the House of Representatives and the faction employees contribute to the preparation of the spokesperson.
We hope to represent and help students even better at Tilburg University via this internal reorganization. Moreover, we expect to create a closer link between the university and the student, and to engage our grassroots supporters better with our activities. Student Party SAM is therefore very delighted about the enlargement of the board and the change to the SAM Student Interests Organization! We are very proud of our six aces in the candidate board of 16-17 and are already quite busy with the transfer of the tasks!
Naturally we are open to questions and input about our internal reorganization! You can come by the SAM-room (E2.06) or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
